Container loading calculator — free 3D load planning in your browser

Type in your carton sizes, hit Auto Load, and see the container packed in 3D — with space used, weight used and every pallet position accounted for. No install, no account.

What it does: calculates how your cargo physically fits inside a container — not just volume, but the real stacking pattern, pallet gaps and payload limit. Nine vehicle types, from a 20GP ocean container to a 26’ box truck.

Why a spreadsheet gets it wrong

Dividing container volume by carton volume gives you a number that is 20–35% too high. It ignores the strip of dead space along the walls, the gap between pallets, the fact that you cannot stack past the roof, and the weight limit that stops you before the box is full.

The result is the classic Friday afternoon problem: the plan says 700 cartons, the dock fits 580, and somebody re-packs at overtime rates.

How it works — three steps

  1. Enter your cartons. Thickness, width, length, weight and quantity. Doing a big SKU list? Import an .xlsx or CSV file — hundreds of lines load in seconds and every row stays editable.
  2. Pick the container. 20GP, 40GP, 40HC, 45HC, 53’ domestic, or a 53’ flatbed. Dimensions and payload limits come pre-filled; override them for a custom box.
  3. Hit Auto Load. The engine sorts longest-first, opens rows across the width, stacks to the height limit, uses the leftover depth, and stops the moment the next pallet would exceed the payload.

You get a 3D view you can rotate, a 2D view for the crew, and two numbers that matter: space used and weight used.

Space-limited or weight-limited?

Most tools tell you one number and let you guess. Quick Loading tells you which limit you hit first, because the answer changes what you do next:

Frequently asked

Do I need to install anything?

No. It runs in the browser on a laptop or tablet. Nothing to download, nothing to update.

Can I import my SKU list from Excel?

Yes. Import an .xlsx or CSV with SKU, thickness, width, length, weight and quantity. Hundreds of lines load in seconds, and you can still edit any row afterwards.

Does it handle pallets?

Yes. Set pallet height and tare weight once; the plan accounts for them on every layer, so the drawing matches what the dock actually builds.

Is the load plan something I can give the crew?

Yes — export a clean image or PDF with the 3D view, the 2D stack and the summary numbers.

Which container types are supported?

20GP, 40GP, 40HC, 45HC, 53’ container, 53’ flatbed, 48’ dry van, 26’ box truck and 53’ reefer, plus fully custom internal dimensions.
